Advertising Rules & Applications

All of you positions are advertised on this website are also advertised internally as we seek to promote from within wherever possible. The positions are also often posted on job boards on Seek or in some cases recruitment agencies are used. In all cases we expect:

  • a cover letter detailing why you believe you’re specifically suited to this role
  • a current résumé detailing your experience, your education, skillset and your accomplishments

The channel through which you apply will determine when you receive a response to your application. You can always follow up your application with a call to our HR department.

Interviews
If your application is shortlisted, then you can expect an interview to be scheduled. The Sensor Dynamics recruitment process may involve some or all of the following steps depending on the role that you are applying for:

  • Phone interview
  • Testing
  • Face-to-face interviews
  • Phone Interview

The phone interview assesses your technical skills and proficiency, to the level of determining whether you should be brought in for a face-to-face interview. Typically phone interviews are conducted by HR or the Hiring Manager and last about 20-30 minutes at a time that is mutually convenient to both parties.

Testing
For most roles Sensor Dynamics has developed a series of in-house tests to ascertain potential employees fit for our roles. You may be invited in to complete such a test prior to or as part of your face-to-face interview. Each department within Sensor Dynamics sets their own benchmark for successful test results based on key selection criteria for the specific roles as well as norm group results from previous candidates.

Face-to-face interviews
Sensor Dynamics implement behaviourally-based interviews. For technical positions, you will be asked to provide specific examples of your background and how you have solved technical problems. Our interview process for business and general positions evaluate your problem solving and behavioural abilities. Remember, it’s not a question of getting the answer right or wrong, but the process in which you use to solve it. Creativity is important and we are interested to hear how you arrive at your answer.

Additional interviews may be required for senior positions are where there is difficulty is splitting candidates. During this period, you as the candidate, will meet a number of personnel from within Sensor Dynamics and for those shortlisted, there is usually an opportunity to meet with potential colleagues as well as to view the space in which you might be working in. At Sensor Dynamics we feel very passionate about there being a good fit for both parties.

What happens next?
The process can take a few weeks and your hiring manager should keep you informed of your progress. Once the interview process has been completed, a verbal offer is usually made, subject to reference checks. If the verbal offer is accepted the hiring manager will ask for referee contact details (preferably three).

If the reference checks are successful, a formal written offer is sent to you which will include:

  • The offer (including salary packaging)
  • An employment contract (requiring a signature)
  • A position description

Finally, a start-date is agreed upon!
